The Story of the Actual Missing Panda:

It all started when Mike Real did his first art show with Let's Get Weird SD in Carlsbad. He showcased a painting of a panda and had it on sale for $150. There was a lot of buzz around this piece, and a few people expressed interest, but nobody committed to buying it right away.

As the show went on, Mike was painting a surfboard when Jason Breish from LGW came up and said, “Congrats, BRO!”

“For what?” Mike asked.

“For selling your first piece!” Jason responded.

“Which piece?” Mike said, confused.

“Didn’t you sell the panda painting?”

“Not that I know of...” Mike replied.

So, Jason started asking around, and sure enough, the painting had disappeared. Someone had stolen the panda painting right off the wall!

Jason and Ryan both felt awful and immediately offered to reimburse Mike for the stolen piece, saying they’d never had anything like this happen before.

But Mike had a different idea.

“Hey, you guys know how to print t-shirts, right?” he asked.

“Yeah,” they replied.

“If you teach me how to print t-shirts, I won’t ask for reimbursement,” Mike suggested.

Excited about the idea, Jason and Ryan agreed, and they asked Mike to send over a design.

As Mike was laughing about the situation, he joked, “How funny would it be if I drew a ‘missing poster’ for my panda painting?”

And that’s how the design for A Missing Panda was born.
